Lovenheim Pediatrics

Services

In addition to the general care and treatment of children from birth through adolescence, Lovenheim Pediatrics offers a wealth of special services for a variety of situations faced by parents, including:

Prenatal Introductory Consultations

Prenatal consultations are the perfect way for parents-to-be to acquaint themselves with the practice, meet our helpful staff, and explore our new office. We take the time to give you a guided tour of the facility, learn about your options for care, and review with one of our physicians any special medical or genetic concerns about your in-utero child. We consider it our job to help new parents weather the transition into parenthood, and are here to answer any questions that may arise.

Lactation Support Services

The American Academy of Pediatrics and the World Health Organization both recommend breastfeeding for the first six months after birth. We understand breastfeeding can be an intimidating undertaking, especially after the challenge of the birthing process, our physicians are happy to consult with new mothers to teach optimal strategies to best realize the benefits of this healthful and economical practice.

Newborn Exams, Nursery Rounds, and Discharge Instructions

Let us guide you through the earliest moments of your child's life by providing wellness care from the very beginning. We offer a full range of services while your child is still in the care of your hospital or birthing center, including newborn exams and nursery rounds. We also provide a helpful primer on essential care practices related to feeding, sleeping, bathing, and skin, scalp, eye, navel, and genital care, so that baby's first days at home are relaxed and comfortable. Our physicians are affiliated with St. Barnabas Medical Center, where Dr. Lovenheim formerly served as Clinical Chief of Pediatrics. We consider it our job to help new parents weather the transition into parenthood, and are here to answer any questions that may arise.

Behavioral Evaluations

Behavioral challenges can play a major role in the health and well being of children and adolescents, and often go hand-in-hand with physical ailments. Whether the issue is sleep disturbance, discipline, problems at school, potty training, tantrums, or any of a variety of other behavioral concerns, our physicians are trained to analyze behavioral anomalies and the roles they play in your child's wellness. Ask about our range of evaluations to determine whether or not behavioral concerns are a factor in your child's life.

Developmental & Environmental Consultations

In the internet age, there is a wealth of information (and misinformation) available to parents that quite often causes more consternation than comfort. More often than not parents are forced to ask if their child's development is "normal". We offer sound clinical knowledge to cut through the noise and provide the knowledge that parents need to rest easy. Whether the concern is about your child's growth and development, or about their environment, nutrition, or even vaccination schedule, our physicians are ready to help.

Confidential Adolescent Care

Teenagers need their privacy. An adolescent, though still a child, faces many of the same health concerns as adults, they just lack the experience to understand how to deal with them. We are happy to help diagnose and treat adolescents with calm, care, and concern for the issues they face. Our special adolescent services afford you and your teens confidential and comprehensive examinations accompanied by thorough explanations to alleviate the worry and embarrassment that child and parent often feel.

Second Opinion Consultations & Referrals

If you're a parent who frequents another practice for your child's regular care, our physicians are happy to offer second opinions for any health condition that causes concern. We maintain a strong working relationship with area practices to facilitate both second opinions and referrals. If your child has a condition that prevents us from adequately addressing their care, we will leverage our wide network of specialists to arrange for the appropriate diagnosis and treatment.
